Late Rally by Cardinals Secures Win
|
The Kearny High Cardinals grabbed a 6-5 win over the Francis Lewis Patriots at Ottawa HS Grounds. Kearny High center fielder Mei-shio Shuang went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Kearny High has an impressive 12-5 record.
Scott Ayers found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the eighth. Facing Francis Lewis hurler Mark Dowell, the 17-year-old designated hitter reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. His 8th RBI of the season put the Cardinals on top, 6-5.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Shuang said.
