McCarthy Helps Islanders Run Win Streak to 3
The Grand Island Islanders grabbed a 9-7 win over the Canby Lancers at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Grand Island center fielder Kevin McCarthy went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. The Islanders have an impressive 11-6 record.

McCarthy had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 curveball from Andy Fitzpatrick, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Islanders a 9-7 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for McCarthy.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," McCarthy said.
