Poly Top Chargers to Even Record
|
Topeka West left fielder Dustin Noah was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Riverside beat the Chargers, 6-4. Noah was named the player of the game despite the loss. Willard Gibson was the winner. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts. The Poly bumped their record to 8-8 with this latest triumph.
Had Aiden Weil not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Weil hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Poly.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Weil said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
