Phillips Helps Lancers Beat Panthers
With left fielder John Phillips leading the charge, the Canby Lancers defeated the Pitman High Panthers, 9-6, at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Phillips, who is tied for 9th in the PRL in runs scored with 16, was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Matt Westerfield picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Mark Porter was tagged with the loss. Even with the win, the Lancers have a dismal 5-11 record.

Isaac Chester contributed to the Canby win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
