Cardinals Need Extras to Top Panthers
|
Montreal shortstop Jared McIlwain played a vital role in his team's 10-3 triumph over Derby. He was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for Montreal. The Cardinals have an impressive 10-4 record.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Russ Babcock. For the game, Babcock went 1 for 2. In the top of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Montreal a 4-3 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," McIlwain told the Montreal Today. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
