Bucco Slugs Blues to 8-3 Win
|
The Central Tech Blues beat the Kearny High Cardinals, 8-3, at Loggers Ballpark. The Blues got a fine performance from catcher Bruce Bucco, who captured player of the game honors. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Jason Adams was the winner. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with 3 walks and 12 strikeouts. Central Tech, now 8-5, has played well in the early going.
David Young, who is tied for 3rd in the HAL in runs scored with 14, aided the Central Tech cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bucco, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
