Patriots Fall Short at Canby
|
Francis Lewis got a terrific game from shortstop Ross Centner. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Canby, 5-4. Centner was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The Lancers are off to a tough start, getting just their 4th win in 12 games.
The Lancers got a big at-bat from right fielder Bobby Croy. For the game, Croy went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the 12th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 7th hit of the season gave Canby a 5-4 lead.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Cody Coffman, the Canby skipper. "This one tested us."
