Jaguars Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Jacksonville State Jaguars defeated the Carl Albert Titans, 9-2, at Chickenhawks Stadium. Jacksonville State catcher Joel Choice was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Nate Meyers was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. The Jaguars, with just their 3rd win so far in 2033, have yet to catch fire.
Choice contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Jacksonville State in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Choice took a fastball from Matt Castle and stroked the home run to right. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Jaguars to leap in front, 3-1.
When asked about his performance after the game, Choice said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
