Panthers Jolt Vampires with Late Rally
The Derby Panthers topped the Santa Clara Vampires by the score of 8-7, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Joel Fiebig. Fiebig went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Panthers. Derby reliever Jason Hazzard picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ryan Ballard was saddled with the loss. Nate Taylor closed the door for Derby, picking up his 2nd save of the year.

The Panthers got a big at-bat from center fielder Ken Bird. For the game, Bird was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Derby a 8-7 lead.

"I felt good up there," said Fiebig. "I saw the ball well."

Derby goes to 5-3 with the win.
