Blazers Lose to Black Knights, 5-2
|
Brooklyn Black Knights starter Jan Shirazi was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Bloomington Blazers, 5-2. Shirazi, now 7-7, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Black Knights bumped their record to 40-37 with this latest triumph.
The Black Knights got a big at-bat from right fielder Todd McCarthy. For the game, McCarthy was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 4-2 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Brooklyn skipper Diego Aguirre.
