Royales Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Stars
|
A 4-RBI performance from Dennis Gillberry helped the Montreal Royales beat the Niagara Stars, 5-4. Montreal reliever Stephen Lau picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Rick Coombs was collared with the loss. The Royales bumped their record to 25-25 with this latest triumph.
Gillberry had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Rick Coombs, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Royales a 5-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Gillberry.
"We found a way to get it done," Gillberry said.
