Saints Continue Skid Thanks to Bryant, Monarchs
|
Eli Bryant was instrumental in his team's 8-2 triumph over the Trois-Rivieres Saints. The right fielder went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the London Monarchs. Vance Blaine picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Foster Richardson was tagged with the loss. Dave Austen closed the game out for London, earning his 1st save.
In the top of the seventh inning, first baseman Bill Barlow came through big-time for the Monarchs. With London leading 4-2, he belted a grand slam home run.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Barlow told the London Gazette.
The Saints, now 17-32, have lost 8 in a row.
