Big Day by Vaillancourt Ignites Capitals Win
|
The Victoria Capitals downed the Calgary Outlaws, 7-2, at Corvettes Ballpark. The Capitals were led by Gideon Vaillancourt, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Dave Sonier, credited with the win, is now 5-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4.2 innings. Victoria is 17-22 and Calgary, with the loss, 23-16.
Jim Dixon, who is tied for 9th in the LBL in RBI with 33, aided the Victoria cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the second. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said Victoria manager Tom Morton.
