Monarchs Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus Montreal
|
London played host to Montreal at the friendly confines of Hatchets Ballpark.
The London Monarchs defeated the Montreal Royales, 6-4. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Eric St.john, who went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. London reliever Mohamed Lambert picked up the win, upping his record to 7-0. John Kilbride took the loss.
St.john contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for London in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, St.john took a fastball from John Kilbride and stroked the home run to left. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Monarchs to leap in front, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," St.john told reporters after the game.
Their 22-17 record puts the Monarchs second in the Lester B. Person League East Division.
