Heat Win at Victoria, 5-3
|
Kelowna pitcher Cary Dower did his part in helping his team beat the Victoria Capitals, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tom Simpson got credit for the save for Kelowna. It was his 9th of the year. Their 21-17 record puts the Heat second in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
Kelowna used the timely hitting of Dave McAuley to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Heat on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Kelowna manager Bob Cunningham.
