Saints Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Montreal
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Jim Caron, the Trois-Rivieres Saints defeated the Montreal Royales, 6-3. Caron was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Saints. Ralph Martell picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 1-1. The save was Waldo Perron's, his 3rd.
Bill Hopkins, who is the 6th-best prospect in the Saints organization, helped out the Trois-Rivieres cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 2 with 2 walks.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Hopkins.
The last-place Saints raised their record to 14-24.
