Stars Prevail, 4-3, Over Victoria
|
The Niagara Stars trumped the Victoria Capitals, 4-3, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Niagara right fielder Frank Wickett was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Niagara reliever John Folland picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bob Reusch absorbed the loss. The Stars saw their win-loss record go to 14-22. At the same time, the Capitals fell to 15-21.
The Stars got a big at-bat from shortstop George Greening. For the game, Greening was 1-4. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave Niagara a 1-0 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Wickett said.
