Montreal got a terrific game from left fielder Terry Merritt. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Trois-Rivieres, 9-7. Merritt was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Saints are now 13-22, while the Royales fall to 20-15.

The Saints got a big at-bat from third baseman Bill Hopkins. For the game, Hopkins went 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the 11th, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Trois-Rivieres a 9-7 lead.

"I had a good game," said Hopkins. "Winning makes it even better."
