Pioneers Win at New York, 4-3
|
The New York Mafia and Vancouver Pioneers provided some drama at Don Corleone Park.
New York got a terrific game from first baseman Lance Adams. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Vancouver, 4-3. Adams was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. With the win, Vancouver goes to 33-42, while the Mafia fall to 26-53.
It could have been a different outcome for Vancouver, had it not been for Hiroya Shimada, the 26-year old left fielder . Shimada contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Vancouver up, 4-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Shimada said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
