Capitals Deal Saints Painful Loss
|
In a tight contest at Ballpark of Chilliwack College, the Victoria Capitals edged the Trois-Rivieres Saints by the score of 8-7. Victoria right fielder Gideon Vaillancourt, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Jack Hepburn, credited with the win, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Victoria is now 14-17. Trois-Rivieres is 11-20.
Victoria won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Waldo Perron on the mound for Trois-Rivieres, pinch hitter Otis Goudie hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Capitals fans to their feet.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Capitals manager Tom Morton. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
