The Kelowna Heat got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Bill Montgomery, but it was good enough for the club to take a 5-1 decision over the Montreal Royales. Montgomery got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. Montgomery allowed no earned runs. The Heat bumped their record to 16-15 with this latest triumph.

The Heat got a big at-bat from right fielder Kevin Parry. For the game, Parry went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Kelowna a 2-0 lead.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Montgomery said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
