Michaud Slugs Monarchs to 5-4 Win
|
It was a fun time at Hatchets Ballpark, where the Victoria Capitals and London Monarchs tangled.
The London Monarchs beat the Victoria Capitals, 5-4, at Hatchets Ballpark. The Monarchs got a fine performance from first baseman Bruce Michaud, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win boosts the Monarchs to 17-13. The loss puts the Capitals at 13-17.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Kirk Valcourt. For the game, Valcourt was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave London a 5-4 lead.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said London manager Chet Hooper.
