Heat Turn Back London, 4-3
|
In a close game at Brantford College Grounds, the Kelowna Heat edged the London Monarchs, 4-3. Kelowna catcher Allen Gravelle earned the nod as player of the game. He went 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Kelowna reliever Ernie Klein picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Keith Ormon was saddled with the loss. Ken Oxford earned save number 2.
Gravelle contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Kelowna in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 3-1, Gravelle took a curveball from Keith Ormon and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Heat to leap in front, 4-3.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Kelowna manager Bob Cunningham.
Kelowna now has a 3-game win streak.
