Hopkins Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Trois-Rivieres in Walk-Off Win
|
Victoria right fielder Gideon Vaillancourt was sensational. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Trois-Rivieres beat the Capitals, 6-4. Vaillancourt was named the player of the game despite the loss. Trois-Rivieres reliever Waldo Perron got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Sean Gillis was tagged with the loss. The Saints improve their record to 9-13 with the win over Victoria.
The Saints were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Bill Hopkins turned a 2-2 fastball from Sean Gillis into a 3-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Trois-Rivieres a thrilling 6-4 win.
Hopkins told the Trois-Rivieres Herald: "I was born for the big stage."
