Close Win Moves Monarchs to 12-8
|
The Victoria Capitals got a superb performance from right fielder Gideon Vaillancourt, but the London Monarchs still won the game, 4-3. Vaillancourt was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Earning his 2nd save for London was Harry Ayotte. The first-place Monarchs have won 4 in a row.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from first baseman Bill Barlow. For the game, Barlow was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave London a 4-3 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Barlow. "I saw the ball well."
