6-4 Royales Win over Stars Evens Season Record
|
The Montreal Royales topped the Niagara Stars, 6-4, with youngster Tom Watt playing a key role. Watt was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Royales in the win. Montreal reliever Sam Cannell picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Danny Warford was saddled with the loss. Earning his 7th save for Montreal was Stephen Lau.
Had Dave Duval not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Duval hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Royales.
"I felt good up there," said Duval. "I saw the ball well."
The Royales bumped their record to 10-10 with this latest triumph.
