The Kansas City Tornadoes got a strong performance from pitcher Gerard Kotas, who stymied the Vancouver offense en route to a 1-0 win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The save was Robinson Merrado's, his 2nd. Kansas City is now riding a 3-game win streak.

Had Jorge Hernández not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Hernández hit a solo home run. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Tornadoes.

Kotas attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
