Despite a great performance by Victoria shortstop Bill Bartlatt, the Montreal Royales defeated the Capitals by the score of 6-5 at Eliminators Ballpark. Bartlatt went 1-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Montreal reliever Dave Horswill picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bernard Favier absorbed the loss. Stephen Lau earned the save for Montreal, his 6th.
Kelton Burton, who is tied for 7th in the LBL in doubles with 5, aided the Montreal cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Burton.
The last-place Capitals have lost 5 straight games.
