Victory Pushes Legends Record to 12-6
|
The Saskatoon Legends grabbed a 3-1 win over the Trois-Rivieres Saints at Ballpark of Red Deer College. Saskatoon third baseman Pearce Balcome was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI to earn player of the game honors. Saskatoon reliever Wayne Rockburn was credited with the win, to go to 4-0. Adrian Leonard took the loss for Trois-Rivieres. Bob MacKay recorded his 1st save for Saskatoon.
Balcome had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Adrian Leonard, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Legends a 3-1 lead. It was the 22nd hit of the year for Balcome.
Afterward, Legends manager Allen Cummings was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Saskatoon has an impressive 12-6 record.
