Victory Pushes Monarchs Record to 10-8
|
London right-hander Ricky Brown made an effective start against the Montreal Royales at Eliminators Ballpark, leading his team to a 3-2 win. London reliever Conor Bruce was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Benjamin Thistle took the loss for Montreal. Ray Batstone recorded his 2nd save for London.
Had Bill Barlow not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Barlow hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Monarchs.
Afterward, Monarchs manager Chet Hooper was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
London is now 10-8, 2 games up in the Lester B. Person League East Division.
