Victory Over Outlaws Takes London to 8-5
The London Monarchs topped the Calgary Outlaws, 10-5, with designated hitter Kirk Valcourt playing a big role. Valcourt went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5 for the Monarchs in the win. Ray Batstone, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. The first-place Monarchs have a one-game lead in their division.

Valcourt contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for London in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-3, Valcourt took a fastball from Travis Grosvenor and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Monarchs to leap in front, 7-4.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Valcourt. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
