|
The Victoria Capitals relied on the hitting of third baseman Jim Dixon to stop the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 11-1. For the game, Dixon went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Chris Ploughman got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Jack Hepburn closed it out for his 1st save.
Dixon contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Victoria in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Dixon took a splitter from Ben Evans and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Capitals to leap in front, 3-1.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Victoria manager Tom Morton. "Our pregame was pretty good."
