Royales Bridle Heat, 3-2
|
Montreal Royales starter Mike Norton turned in a top-notch performance against the Kelowna Heat at Brantford College Grounds. The result was a win for the Royales, 3-2. The winner was Montreal reliever Alan Best, now 1-0. The loser was Tom Simpson. Stephen Lau was credited with the save for Montreal, his 3rd of the season.
The Royales got a big at-bat from catcher Brian Townsend. For the game, Townsend was 1-2 with 2 walks. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Montreal a 2-1 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Norton said.
The Royales bumped their record to 6-6 with this latest triumph.
