Capitals Best Monarchs in Pitching Duel
|
The Victoria Capitals topped the London Monarchs, 2-1, in CANADIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE action at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. The player of the game was Victoria pitcher Justin Adler. Victoria reliever Sean Gillis picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bart Woodward shouldered the loss. Picking up the save was Kirk Winman, his 2nd.
Had Morton Gallant not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Gallant hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Capitals.
Gallant said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Victoria is now 5-6.
