Almy hits 2 home runs to Pull Heat to .500
|
The Kelowna Heat defeated the Niagara Stars, 10-6. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Seth Almy, who went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Kelowna reliever Ernie Klein was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Dave Arden took the loss for Niagara. Kelowna has a mark of 4-4 after the win.
The Heat got a big at-bat from designated hitter Bill O'Leary. For the game, O'Leary went 1-5. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Kelowna a 4-3 lead.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," O'Leary told the Kelowna Citizen.
