Outlaws Stymie Victoria, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Calgary Outlaws beat the Victoria Capitals, 5-1, at Corvettes Ballpark. The Outlaws got a fine performance from center fielder Graham Carmichael, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Calgary reliever Dwayne Stapleton picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bernard Favier absorbed the loss. The save was credited to Carl Kurucz, his 3rd.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from designated hitter Randy Stackhouse. For the game, Stackhouse went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Calgary a 3-0 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Carmichael told the Calgary Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Outlaws keep rolling, raising their record to 5-3.
