Saints Prevail, 3-2, Over Calgary
|
The Saints had to overcome a fine performance from Calgary pitcher John Hansen to grab a 3-2 win at Blue Wings Ballpark. Hansen allowed 1 earned run over 5 innings. Trois-Rivieres reliever Ed Newcomb picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. John Hansen absorbed the loss. Waldo Perron earned the save for Trois-Rivieres, his 1st.
Randy Jesso, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Saints organization, aided the Trois-Rivieres cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Trois-Rivieres skipper Jason Raymond.
The Saints have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.
