Both teams had their chances, but the Mississippi State Bulldogs eventually prevailed at Crowley College Grounds.
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Evan Engel, the LSU Tigers suffered a 4-3 loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Engel went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 24-22 with this latest triumph.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from first baseman Brad Stein. For the game, Stein went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Mississippi State a 4-0 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Stein said.
