Owls Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus TCU
|
The Rice Owls topped the TCU Horned Frogs by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Evan Wallrath. Wallrath went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Owls. David Gentile, credited with the win, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. At 18-28, Rice is in 21st place in the Cliff Gustafson.
Wallrath had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch curveball from Josh Blackburn, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Owls a 4-2 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Wallrath.
In postgame comments, Wallrath told the Rice Gazette: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
