Late Rally by Bombers Secures Win
|
The Bombers faced a stiff challenge from Mile High pitcher James Jostle, but persevered to claim a win at McNichols Stadium. The final score was 6-4. Jostle went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Ange Schmit picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 8-6. Ed Armstrong converted his 9th save in 9 tries.
Had Shawn Harris not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Harris hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Bombers.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Harris. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
South Carolina has now won 3 in a row.
