Cougars Sneak Past Bulldogs, 4-3
|
The Houston Cougars topped the Fresno State Bulldogs by the score of 4-3, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Rob McCleary. McCleary hit 2 home runs for the Cougars. Houston reliever Andre McNeal picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jeff Shue suffered the loss. The Cougars bumped their record to 26-20 with this latest triumph.
McCleary had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Jeff Shue, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Cougars a 4-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for McCleary.
"This place was rockin'," said McCleary.
