South Illinois designated hitter Chris Maynard was instrumental in his team's 7-0 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. Maynard, who is tied for 8th in the SBL in RBI with 46, went 3-5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Salukis. The Salukis now have a record of 21-24 with the win over Oklahoma.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth when Maynard, who is tied for 7th in the SBL with a .376 batting average, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Salukis into the lead, 3-0.
