Wake Forest right-hander Troy Gero was sensational in shutting out the Alabama Crimson Tide, 7-0. Steve Porco, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. The Demon Deacans bumped their record to 23-22 with this latest triumph.

In the top of the eighth inning, center fielder Kevin Pietrzak came through big-time for the Demon Deacans. With Wake Forest leading 4-0, he belted a 3-run home run.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gero.
