Redding, Golden Eagles Rough Up Owls
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Rice Owls, 11-3, at Toughkenamon College Fields. South Mississippi first baseman Danny Redding was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Danny Cook got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Kevin Scott earned the save for South Mississippi, his 1st of the year.

With South Mississippi leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Redding hit a cutter from Steven Townsend for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Golden Eagles ahead, 7-0.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Redding.

The Golden Eagles have an impressive 27-17 record.
