Multi-HR Day for LeMoine as Bulldogs Overpower 49'ers, 8-5
|
Fresno State and Long Beach State duked it out at Brooks College Grounds and the Bulldogs came out victorious.
The Fresno State Bulldogs defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 8-5, at Brooks College Grounds. Fresno State shortstop John LeMoine was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Fresno State reliever Danny Jensen picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jim Fox absorbed the loss. Jeff Shue earned save number 8.
Tim Welch aided the Fresno State cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1-1. He drove in 2 runs.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Welch told the Fresno State Times.
Fresno State is now 30-14, 2½ games up in the Cliff Gustafson.
