Beavers Mow Down Longhorns, 9-3
|
The Oregon State Beavers defeated the Texas Longhorns, 9-3, at Palisades Ballpark. Oregon State first baseman Rich Montague was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Oregon State reliever Kyle Nelson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bob Shore absorbed the loss. Texas, at 16-28, has lost 4 straight.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from third baseman Wayne Bilodeau. For the game, Bilodeau went 1 for 3 with a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 29th hit of the season gave Oregon State a 4-3 lead.
"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Bilodeau. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
