Ducks Turn Back Long Beach State, 7-5
|
With center fielder Hugo Rodriguez leading the charge, the Oregon Ducks defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 7-5, at Crunch Ballpark. Rodriguez, who is tied for 3rd in the RDL in stolen bases with 12, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Ray Proctor got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The Ducks bumped their record to 23-19 with this latest triumph.
John Lary chipped in for Oregon with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rodriguez told the Oregon Herald.
