Demon Deacans Fall Short, 4-3, at Vanderbilt
|
The Vanderbilt Commodores downed the Wake Forest Demon Deacans, 4-3, at Ballpark of Barrow College. Brent Biernacki led the way, going 2-for-4 for Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt reliever George Roth picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Ryan Marchese was saddled with the loss. Earning his 14th save for Vanderbilt was Jimmy Gregus.
Jason Valentine, who is tied for 4th in the SBL in home runs with 16, aided the Vanderbilt cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 4 with a home run.
Valentine called the win "a collective effort."
The Commodores bumped their record to 25-16 with this latest triumph.
