Wolverines Bang Out 8-3 Win Versus Virginia
|
Michigan second baseman Marcus Clayton was instrumental in his team's 8-3 win over the Virginia Cavaliers. Clayton went 3-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Wolverines. Michigan reliever Dave Allen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jason Aves was saddled with the loss. Earning his 2nd save for Michigan was Travis Rufus.
Nick Sakellariou aided the Michigan cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman was 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Sakellariou called the win "a collective effort."
The Wolverines bumped their record to 21-20 with this latest triumph.
