Bombers Win at Mile High, 4-2
|
The Bombers had to overcome a fine effort from Mile High pitcher Ross Allan to grab a narrow 4-2 win at McNichols Stadium. Allan went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Sotatsu Hayagawa was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Ed Armstrong converted his 8th save in 8 tries.
The Bombers got a big at-bat from center fielder Rafael Campos. For the game, Campos went 1 for 4 with a triple. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave South Carolina a 1-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Mile High skipper Dave Callahan, "and it cost us."
The Bombers bumped their record to 42-31 with this latest triumph.
